Why Glenworth Valley Is Perfect for a Weekend Camping Trip
Sometimes the best weekends are the ones that are planned around good friends, fresh air and a simple campsite. A few months ago, our group from Sydney Beach Events packed our camping gear, met early in the morning and drove north from Sydney to one of our favourite camping destinations, Glenworth Valley.

Located just over an hour from the Central Coast and Sydney, Glenworth Valley is the perfect place for anyone looking to escape the city without travelling too far. Surrounded by rolling hills, open fields and beautiful bushland, it offers plenty of space to relax, explore and enjoy nature.
As everyone arrived throughout the afternoon, tents quickly started popping up across the campsite. Some campers were experienced while others were trying camping for the very first time. Before long, everyone was helping each other set up tents, inflate sleeping mats and organise camp chairs. It was a great reminder that camping is just as much about the people as it is about the location.
Once camp was ready, we spent the afternoon playing volleyball on the open grass. The friendly competition quickly turned into laughter as everyone joined in, regardless of their skill level. With blue skies above and mountains surrounding us, it felt like the perfect way to spend a winter afternoon.
As the sun slowly disappeared behind the hills, the temperature dropped and everyone gathered around the campfire. There is something special about sitting around a fire with friends. Phones disappear, conversations become longer and the simple crackling of burning wood creates the perfect atmosphere.
Of course, no campfire is complete without marshmallows. One by one, everyone found the perfect stick and patiently toasted marshmallows over the glowing coals. Some preferred them lightly golden while others accidentally set theirs on fire. Either way, it brought plenty of laughs and made for one of the highlights of the evening.
Dinner was just as enjoyable. Portable BBQs were fired up as everyone cooked their favourite meals. From steaks and sausages to marinated chicken and vegetables, every campsite seemed to have something delicious cooking. Sitting together with warm food after a day outdoors always makes everything taste better.
As the night became colder, many of us reached for our warm camping gear. My Camp Escape Winter Down Jacket quickly became one of the most important items I packed. Filled with 60% duck down and 40% duck feather, it kept me warm throughout the evening without feeling bulky. The wind blocking quilted design and detachable hood made it comfortable enough to stay outside enjoying the campfire long after many people had retreated to their tents.
By the time everyone finally headed to bed, the campground had become completely quiet. Looking up, the sky was filled with stars and the only sounds were the gentle crackling of the remaining fire and the occasional rustle of leaves in the breeze.
The next morning began with fresh mountain air and hot coffee while breakfast cooked on portable stoves. Nobody seemed to be in a hurry to leave. We shared stories from the night before, packed away our camping gear and were already talking about organising the next camping trip.
If you are looking for another fantastic camping destination near the Central Coast or Sydney, Glenworth Valley is well worth visiting. Whether you enjoy relaxing around a campfire, cooking a BBQ with friends, playing outdoor games or simply escaping into nature for a weekend, it offers everything you need for an unforgettable camping experience.

For us, it was more than just a camping trip. It was another weekend filled with great people, good food, plenty of laughs and memories that will stay with us long after the tents were packed away.
